Web Copy

Lifetime Fitness – During my time as Contract Senior Writer for Lifetime Fitness, I completely rewrote the entire company website. See example pages below.

Dan Kelly’s Pub – As a freelance project, I wrote this “origin story” for this downtown Minneapolis Bar.

Badger Hill Brewing – Zoss Media client Badger Hill Brewing asked me to write web and packaging copy for their unique beer, High Road Blonde Ale.

Octopus Tree Games – During my time at Encore Software, I created a new in-house brand called Octopus Tree Games, which included writing every word on the official website.

Robot Arena III – I drafted the copy for this website and worked closely with the designers on the visual elements.

eCommerce Copy

Goliath – I wrote everything on the Steam page for this video game, including the scripts for the videos.

Encore Software – During my time at Encore Software, I wrote eCommerce pages for dozens of products. Here are just a few examples.

Zoombinis – This page allows schools to order the school edition of the updated classic educational game Zoombinis.

Technical Writing

As a Technical Writer for Merrill DataSite, I created white papers, internal documentation and help documentation for two separate secure data products. Here are a few examples.

Packaging Copy

Indeed Brewing – Zoss Media client Indeed Brewing asked me to write packaging copy for several of its beers. Click the links to see layouts.

In addition to spending over three years as a staff writer for Game Informer Magazine and two years as a reporter for Minnesota Premier Publications, I have written several freelance articles for outlets around the country, including Village Voice Media, Paste Magazine, Wizard Magazine, ToyFare, Official Xbox Magazine, and many more. Here are some of my favorites.

Trouble BrewingThis piece on the legal restrictions on Minnesota brewpubs was awarded both a Society of Professional Journalists Page One Award and Minnesota Newspapers Association Award (PDF).

Return of the Growler – I wrote one of the first pieces on the Minnesota craft brewing boom as a City Pages cover story.

QPB – I wrote this look at Bloomington’s Quality Bicycle Products for The Growler Magazine.

Surly Bikes – I also wrote this piece to explain QBP’s Surly bikes brand to fans of the Surly Brewing brand.

The Secrets of Surly – Todd Haug (formerly) of Surly granted me his first interview for The Growler about Surly’s anniversary beers. Check it out here.

Studio Mates – This was a fun piece I did for Wizard Magazine about two Minnesota-based comic books artist sharing a studio space.
